About Vallarta’s of Craig, LLC
The Nunez family entered the restaurant business to offer people a taste of the authentic Mexican food they enjoyed growing up. As children, the 10 siblings all worked to support their parents’ restaurant business in Mexico. In 2005, their father passed away, and their mother decided to move to the US.
A Passion for Cooking
Margarita Nunez moved to the US to be closer to her now-adult children. Her legendary passion for cooking was instrumental in the family’s decision to enter the restaurant business here. In fact, she’s still in the kitchen every day!
The dream began in Montrose, CO. In December 2006, the family opened their first restaurant. Six months later, they expanded with a second location in Olathe. They wanted to share their cuisine with more people, but couldn’t decide where to go next.
Fortunately, some diners from Craig, CO, were passing through and came to the Montrose location for dinner. They enjoyed our food and service and suggested we open a new restaurant in Moffat County.

In December 2007, we opened our third Vallarta’s location in Centennial Mall in Craig. The community welcomed us warmly and supported our business. This location quickly became our favorite! We closed our Olathe and Montrose locations to focus on providing exceptional food and service to Craig.
After ten years at the mall location, we moved to the old Signal Hill building. It took a lot of work to get here, and we thank the wonderful Craig community for helping us get there!
Best of the Best
We have received numerous awards for our food and service. In fact, in 2019, we received seven separate awards from Moffat County for being the “Best of the Best.”
